Safeguarding for Parents and Carers

At Bamford Academy we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect everyone on our site, whether staff, visitors or volunteers, to share this commitment. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

All adults who regularly work on our site are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to prevent unsuitable people from working with students. All visitors are closely supervised when on site.

Child Protection and Operation Encompass

As part of Bamford Academy's commitment to keeping children safe, we are proud to be part of Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is a unique Police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.

Being part of Encompass means our school will receive a notification from Greater Manchester Police before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved in or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous day. The information is given in confidence to the schools Key Adult/s and will enable us to provide the best possible support for the child.

The Key Adults at our school are Mrs Gaskell and Mr Leak. If you have any questions or wish to know more about our involvement in Operation Encompass, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Gaskell either by telephone: 01706 631496, or via email office@bamfordacademy.co.uk

Contacting EHASH

If you’re ever worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person, you don’t have to deal with it alone. The Early Help and Safeguarding Hub (EHASH) is there to listen, offer advice, and make sure children get the right support as early as possible.

  • If a child is in immediate danger, please call 999.

  • For any other concerns, you can contact EHASH on 0300 303 0440 (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm).

  • If you need help outside these hours, call the Emergency Duty Team on 0300 303 8875.

Altus Community Hub

The Altus Community Hub is a FREE and confidential service for families and individuals in our local communities to access food and other essential items such as toiletries.

We work with several partners, ensuring we have ‘outreach hub’ provision in each of the neighbourhood areas across the borough of Rochdale.

The Altus Community Hub has been able to offer donated items such as toys, second-hand homeware and kitchen equipment, and previously worn (but perfectly good!) school uniform. Recipe cards are also available with food packs giving ideas of how to use the ingredients in the packs to make nutritious meals.

The Hubs can be accessed by any family, not just those families of our academies – our mission and values are to give access to all who may require this service.

The Altus Community Hub has been organised as a way of supporting all families and communities around the borough of Rochdale.

Please click on the link below to watch a short video about the Altus Community Hub at our Kingsway Park High School hub to find out more:
