- Safeguarding for Children
You are important. You deserve to feel safe & happy.
If anyone is hurting you, treating you in a way that makes you feel scared or unsafe, or if you feel very alone or unhappy, please tell someone. Talking about it is brave and helps us look after you.
You can talk to:
- Your class teacher
- Any grown-up who works at school
- Someone in our Safeguarding Team (they are specially trained to help children)
Every adult at Bamford Academy will listen carefully, believe you, and do their best to help.
Remember: You can call Childline any time, day or night, on 0800 1111. It’s free, private, and they are really good at listening.
Our school follows special rules called Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and our own Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy. These rules make sure every adult at school knows how to keep children safe. You (or a grown-up) can look at them here:
What to do about bullying
Bullying can happen anywhere - at school, at home, on the bus, in the street, online, or on a phone. It might be someone pushing you, teasing you, calling you names, leaving you out, or being mean online (that’s called cyber-bullying).
No one has the right to make you feel bad. You do not have to put up with it.
Tell a teacher, your mum, dad, carer, or another grown-up you trust straight away. We will help stop it.
You can also talk to:
- Childline - 0800 1111
- NSPCC - 0808 800 5000
Cyber-bullying is against the law and can be stopped.
Rules for staying safe online
The internet is full of fun games, videos and learning - but we always need to be careful.
These simple rules help keep you (and your friends) safe:
- I only use school computers and tablets for school work and homework.
- I only change or delete my own files – never someone else’s without asking.
- I never put anything online that is unkind or not allowed.
- I respect age limits on websites and apps.
- I never try to visit websites the school has blocked.
- I only message people I know or that a trusted adult has said is OK.
- My messages and posts are always kind and sensible.
- I never open files or downloads from people I don’t know and trust.
- I never share my address, phone number, photos or videos of myself, or any personal information unless a trusted adult says it’s OK.
- I never arrange to meet anyone I’ve only talked to online unless my parent/carer is with me.
- If I see anything that makes me feel worried or unhappy, I tell a teacher or trusted adult straight away and don’t reply.
Have fun, stay safe… and never share your personal details online!

Questions children often ask (FAQs)
Who can I talk to at school?
Any teacher or adult. Our special Safeguarding Team are Mrs Gaskell, Mr Leak, Mr Walthall, Mrs Hunter, Mrs Yates and Mrs Dar. They are really good at helping.
Will I get into trouble if I tell?
No. You will never get into trouble for telling the truth about something that is making you feel unsafe or unhappy.
What if I’m worried about a friend?
You can still tell a trusted adult. Looking after each other is kind and brave.
Is it OK to keep secrets?
Some secrets (like a birthday surprise) are fun. Secrets that make you feel scared, sad or uncomfortable should always be shared with a trusted adult.
What if something happens at home or online?
You can still tell us at school. We are here to help, whatever the problem is.
You matter. You are not alone. Talk to someone. We are here for you.
